Finally Friday: Happy V-Day!

It's finally Friday. It's Valentine's Day. If you are a Valentine's day Grinch you better click yourself out of this post... Adam and I exchanged Valentines last night since we will be busy tonight.

Instead of regular bouquet of flowers this year he got me tulips! I really love tulips, hopefully I can take care of them so they bloom.

He also bought me perfume. It's Jennifer Aniston's scent. I like her. He hoped I would like her scent too. He did good. It's a light and sweet floral. It's something I can wear every day. Bonus: It doesn't make me sneeze! (stupid allergies)

I gave Adam a bucket filled with his favorite snacks, and a six pack of a beer he likes. I think he liked it...
Heavenly treats for him.
And I just wanted to post this because it's OH SO AMAZING. Everyone should probably make it this weekend and eat it all. I happily gained 10 pounds eating it last weekend. My friend Tan made two batches, and we were not mad about it.

If you follow me on instagram, you probably saw all of these photos already. If you don't you need to follow me!

Are you celebrating Valentine's Day? Or are you a V-DAY Grinch?
Have you tried this amazing Lucky Charms Chex mix?

Dare to DIY: Stenciled coasters

When I was at Menards one day scanning the aisles for some kitchen backsplash ideas. I picked up a stack of travertine square tiles in the clearance section.

I wanted to make a few to bring as hostess gifts for upcoming holiday parties. I like to bring a bottle of wine from the family winery for the host, but this is just an extra to add to the gift.

Easiest DIY ever. I did it while we watched Home Alone this weekend. I love Home Alone around the holidays. It's nice to watch it with all the Christmas lights twinkling and a fire.
Anyway, back to the DIY:

These were 2 bucks at the hardware store for all 8. They have more expensive ones. But I chose these because it was more stone-like, less shiny tile. Plus, they were in the clearance section.

Then I stenciled.

And when I messed up (because I am no Martha), I just painted over it and did a reverse stencil look.

NOT PICTURED (because it's too dang cold outside to be pausing to take action shots): Spray with a clear coat outside to make sure your minutes of hard work stenciling stay put.

I added little felt tips that I already had on hand. But you can get a huge bag at the hardware store for 6 bucks.

And make sure you test them...

They work!

Tie a few up with some twine. And you are finished.

What do you like to bring/get at hostess gifts?

A surprise from Red Envelope

When a pretty red box tied up with a white bow arrived on my doorstep I could barely contain my excitement long enough to snap a photo! I just love when products are packaged so pretty. It makes opening it seem like a part of the treat.

Something special inside this RedEnvelope signature gift box!
and inside...

RedEnvelope kindly gifted Adam and I this gorgeous monogrammed stone crock. I love the pretty red (signature RedEnvelope!) color, with a wooden lid.

The etched monogram is just the right touch of personalization.

Right now, the crock happily holds my k-cups.

But I can see myself using it for plenty of other things, and even in different rooms of the house.

Thanks RedEnvelope for sending us this surprise treat. If you want to get your own head over here. The canister is available from their wedding and anniversary line. They have pages and pages of gorgeous products that would make great gifts this upcoming season! I promise you will find more than one gift idea...or something to put on your own wish list!

Note: I was not compensated for this post. I was sent this beautiful gift from the sweet people of RedEnvelope and wanted to share it in our home. Per usual, this post is 100% my own views.

Bah bah birthday weekend fun.

My second 27th birthday was this past week. I enjoyed some 'Trina time" in the morning--I had a hair appointment with Dana to get beautimous.

I did a little errand running and came home and worked a little around the house---followed by a wonderful 1.5 hour nap.

Adam took me out to dinner that evening and I ordered a huge and super delish salad. Some people want steak on their birthdays..I want salad and wine!
nom.
We enjoyed a nice dinner and then went home to relax on my birthday present from my dear husband...Here he is on my pretty new patio set....
birthday gift from Adam!
Good husband...he does read the blog!

But my birthday fun didn't end there. My parents and my sister came to visit for the weekend to help me celebrate and to have some family fun time. They brought snacks, a cake, and presents!!

My sister gave me this super cute little lamby. I was eyeing him last time we were at Hornbaker Gardens. He sits in our dining room now but I think he will find a home outside somewhere once we get some grass growing. (news on that soon!)
bah bah birthday have you any cake??

One of my other presents came from Hornbaker's too. Daylillies! I can't wait to get them planted. Word on the street is that they will bloom this year.

We had a good weekend full of shopping, wine tasting, and cooking.  Here is a good example of our fun while Adam & Dad were outside grilling dinner...

blurry selfies...

Thanks for all the birthday wishes on twitter, instagram, facebook, texts, and phone calls, and to those who I got to celebrate with this weekend. 28 will be a good year!

XOXO, Trina
