Member of the turtle club!

Last week we spent a week with my parents, my sister Liza, and her college roommate Alex, in sunny Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We stayed at The Royal Resort which is located right downtown off 5th avenue. It was a week full of adventures and beach fun!

And now to bore you with a vacation recap full of photos...

Our Beautiful room.

View from our balcony.

I loved this art on the building.

Another view from our balcony.

The beach and my mom's sand covered pigs.

The group out for a drink on 5th avenue.

Someone talked us into a shot called donkey semen. (Mom) It wasn't terrible.

Mom & Dad.

Basically my mother the entire week. In her float in the ocean.
Tip: buy a raft to bring with you. Everyone was jealous of our rafts all week! It was heaven floating in that ocean. Salty heaven.

Having a cocktail before dinner at the Tapas bar.

Sisters with dad. On the troll bridge.

Me & mom at Trade winds before dinner.

And guess what we did one day?
We went snorkeling in a freshwater cave! Yipes!
Senote, or cave.

It was dark in that cave.
Unfortunately, the flash on my waterproof camera conveniently broke the day before. So no cave photos. But it was beautiful. And cold. And my mom pretended to be a mermaid.

We snorkeled with sea turtles in a lagoon!
Most of them had friends!
We are now part of the turtle club!
Liza & Alex snorkel smooch.

Adam.

And saw Mayan ruins at Tulum. The only ruins built by the sea.
Tulum.

Enjoyed coke light.

Had a rough experience with an iguana.

Look at those tiny hands Liza!

Lunch on the beach.

Alex & EJ.

Mom & Dad.

Adam & me, the wedge master.
Wearing wedges on the beach is no joke.

Group photo. (My dad is Jimmy Buffett...)

Beach the last evening in Mexico.

Oh, I almost forgot. Here is a special treat for you for sticking around for the vacation photo post!

Look our feet! Ready for a treat?!
One day, my mother had another crazy idea besides the shot called donkey semen. We all went parasailing! We were all a little nervous. Ok, actually half us were nervous. Me, my mother, and my sister were not scared at all. Nope, not one bit.

Kinda high up there...
It's only a few hundred feet.
Above the ocean.
Dangling by two strings. And a couple knots.
No. Big. Deal.

Oh look how little our boat looks when you are 300 feet in the air. Dangling.
Look who was not scared.

Guess which one of us is faking a smile?

Ready for your special treat? You can watch and hear me being a chicken while parasailing.

If you click through my youtube page you can see the others in the group too. And then lots of dog videos...

We returned back to good old Illinois Saturday---but only after almost missing our flight (still side eyeing my sister and & Alex), and topping it off with extra turbulence.

We had an amazing time and did so many things in the week we were there. Thanks for the great trip Mom & Dad!

Back to our regularly scheduled programming Tuesday. We had lots of progress when we were busy joining the turtle club!

  1. Amazing trip! The turtle bay was in Akumal right? We stayed in South Akumal in Febuary, and spent lots of time at the Lol-ha bar! Such a beautiful place. I will tell anyone who listens that that part of Mexico is wonderful and safe! Glad you had a nice time.
