Basement part 3

Basement walls are up!

The black stuff is tar-- I believe.

This side of the house is the master bath, bedroom
& most important walk-in closets!

This whole wall is directly below the walk-in closets.
oh yes, they are not small.

From the back yard.

retaining walls.

behind the garage.

garage is angled.

lots of gravel.

muddy.

We love our driveway more every time we drive down it!

Next, they will pour the basement, garage floor, and the front porch cap.

ROCK

We found this humungo rock when they dug up the lane.

We have some special plans for it.
Sorry for being MIA in blogland lately. Real life got in the way. Annoying right?
We will be back next week with some DIY posts and even house building updates!

Do you ever have to take a blog break because you are too busy/lazy?
Who else is ready for the weekend? Longest.Week.Ever.

Mud. We have it.

We basically have a big mud puddle right now. They buried all the brush from pulling the stumps up, and finished the lane.

Scout doesn't mind.

Fall brings in a new look

While Adam and Scout have been out to the ground every weekend working, I have not. So when I had a chance to go with Adam this past weekend I noticed a huge difference. Not just in the work he had been doing, but the changes the season has brought.

More trees were cut down.

You can now see the field behind the timber. This is the clearing where the house will sit.

Pretty leaves and boots!

Adam filled the tractor with firewood to haul to grandpa's.

Scout chowed on more twigs. I swear we feed him

We burned more brush, this time at the end of the lane.

Someone looks tired from all the deer chasing.

Finally.

The culvert is finally done. The big silver tube has only been sitting in the ditch for a month now. Thanks road commissioner!

Bye Bye Trees.

Over the past few weeks we've been taking down trees where we will have the lane put in. Not just a few trees either. Adam has been out there most evenings after work, and most of the weekends.

First, we went through and marked all the trees that would come down.
Bright orange spot = bye bye tree.

There were mostly small trees and bushes that we had to rip out, but plenty of large ones as well.  At first, I felt sorta bad about cutting down all the beautiful trees. But, it's not like we are cutting all of them down. We will still be surrounded by woods after the home is built.

Lumberjack.

Our friend Andy stopped by to help. He's also building a home in the area with his wife. It was nice to have some help and talk housebuilding too. They are a few steps ahead of us in the process.

Two lumberjacks.

Obviously, Scout was helping.

We left the stumps so they can just be ripped right out later when the lane is put in. Scout is sticking his tongue out in this photo because he just chased a deer and was not even close to being as fast as that Bambi for one second.

This is what it looked like after the first few days. This actually is major progress. Although it still looks pretty much like a jungle from this photo.

Hey look! A big tube.

The culvert is ready to be put in. As soon as the road commissioner gets his butt out there to finish the job.

Basically, this will allow vehicles to drive over the little ditch and where the lane will start once we get it cleared.

Really, it's not that exciting because it just looks like a big silver tube laying there. Which is what it actually is.

Tubage.

Next, we will start clearing out all that bush & those darn trees.
