1. Energy efficient & lower utility bills
Newly built homes seem to be much more energy efficient. When
we moved to our new home, we not only increased our square footage, but we
tripled it! We were afraid our bills would skyrocket. Our electric bill has been only slightly more
thanks to our geothermal unit and new energy star-efficient appliances.
We did ample research on tax breaks and
rebates when planning the build and bidding contractors. We ended up paying only a few thousand more
for an energy efficient geo-thermal unit and so far, our utilities have been on
par with the research.
2. Customized for a modern family
One of my other favorite benefits to building a new home would be customization. We were able to build the home to suit our needs. We thought about every nook and cranny in the home and what we would use it for. We were able to create the home to fit our needs and room for our family to grow later on down the road. We went with a modern open floor plan; but also made sure every space is it’s own designated area, and can still be made cozy and feel like home.

3. Plenty of storage
We have an abundance of storage in our newly built home. Our
master closets are so large they could actually be two more rooms in the home!
But this is what we wanted. We have plenty of closet space for odds and ends,
and a ready to be finished basement that will have even more closet space!
We wanted a spot for everything…and we will only acquire
more stuff throughout our years here and as our family grows!
