Benjamin is ONE

Our sweet Benjamin is now one. We could never imagine a year of bright smiles, laughs, and memories could by so fast.

We celebrated last weekend with our family.

We went with a fox theme mostly because I always have loved little fox stuff.  Even when we were decorating his nursery I chose fox accents here and there.
I felt like this was the only time I get to choose the theme. Next year he will probably be into Mickey or Paw Patrol...this year..I had all the say!

He received sooo many nice presents. A wagon, a slide, a truck... those are only the gifts from his grandparents and us! This kid is set. He's having a ball playing with them all.

He dug into the cake. It was a long day for him, he fell asleep with cake in his hand!

Keeping a Secret from your Spouse

I kept a secret from my husband for a long time.

It was not easy.

It was not fun. 

It was stressful.

I had to pay for things in cash. I had to sneak around on my lunch hour. I had to keep my cell phone in my purse (instead of leaving it on the counter like normal) so he would not accidentally read a text message.

I had to come up with several elaborate stories.  One was trying to explain why my trunk looked like this:

I lost sleep because I would wake up in the middle of the night making to do lists in my head. I had to pretend we had plans that we didn't. I had to make up ridiculous reasons why we couldn't go here or there, or make buy tickets to a concert on Saturday night.

The hardest part was staying calm the week of and relaxing while around him, while I was really stressing about my secret plan.

But it all worked out...

I surprised my husband with a 30th birthday party.

And cupcakes, and a beer cake. (Beer cake idea was actually crafted by my parents)

And of course, booze. Keg of beer not pictured :)

And most of his family. Even my parents drove 3 hours for his party.

 I was relieved, he was was super surprised.

Shout out to my friend Lora for her help with setup! I was a crazy chick that afternoon and she kept me sane.

We had a wonderful time. Adam was so surprised he was speechless, which is rare. I'm so thankful for our fabulous family and friends for spending the evening with us celebrating Adam's 30th birthday.

Bah bah birthday weekend fun.

My second 27th birthday was this past week. I enjoyed some 'Trina time" in the morning--I had a hair appointment with Dana to get beautimous.

I did a little errand running and came home and worked a little around the house---followed by a wonderful 1.5 hour nap.

Adam took me out to dinner that evening and I ordered a huge and super delish salad. Some people want steak on their birthdays..I want salad and wine!

We enjoyed a nice dinner and then went home to relax on my birthday present from my dear husband...Here he is on my pretty new patio set....

But my birthday fun didn't end there. My parents and my sister came to visit for the weekend to help me celebrate and to have some family fun time. They brought snacks, a cake, and presents!!

My sister gave me this super cute little lamby. I was eyeing him last time we were at Hornbaker Gardens. He sits in our dining room now but I think he will find a home outside somewhere once we get some grass growing. (news on that soon!)

One of my other presents came from Hornbaker's too. Daylillies! I can't wait to get them planted. Word on the street is that they will bloom this year.

We had a good weekend full of shopping, wine tasting, and cooking.  Here is a good example of our fun while Adam & Dad were outside grilling dinner...

Just in case you aren't sure what to buy me... Summer wants..

My birthday is coming up real quick. And although birthdays are not as exciting and party-girl as they used to be...I am looking forward to the 28th year and all it will bring.

If you have been scouring the internet and the shopping malls trying to decide what to buy me, worry no more...


1. Sperrys. I just love a boat shoe, they are so darn cute. A little pricey, but I hear they are super comfy.

I wear a size 7.5...



2. A cute cookbook a.k.a ipad holder for all the baking and cooking I plan to do as a 28-year-old.

Ok go ahead, giggle just like my sister does when I say it. But I want one! Think of all the delish foods I can make in this. And bonus..it is Fiesta brand to match my dishes!

4. IPhone
You Guys. I have the Iphone already... But it is the Iphone 3GS! Do they even make that anymore?
I've had it for over 3 years. I think that is pretty dang good run for a phone, especially an iphone! Plus, my power button and my volume button both fell off last month!

5. Pots
I am getting old and I just want to plant stuff. I like these from the HD. I want a few large planters for the back deck with some pretty flowers.

6.  Patio furniture. We really want patio furniture & of course I have expensive taste and like the sectionals the best. So, we have been watching for sales...but I will take this as a birthday gift if anyone wants to be super generous...
