Well sorry, you are not getting a free baby tree from me today.
But, you can make a $10 donation to The Arbor Day Foundation and receive 10 free trees that will grow where you live.
I chose 10 free flowering trees.
- 2 White Flowering Dogwoods
- 2 Flowering Crabapples
- 2 Washington Hawthorns
- 2 Eastern Redbuds
- 2 Goldenraintrees
But they have a bunch of other choices for you too. A $10 six month membership fee also includes discounts on other trees. But it's at least 10 bucks for just one flowering dogwood tree. 10 bucks for 10 trees is a deal!
I figure it's the least we can do since we cut down so many trees to clear the land for the house. This is the link. They are shipping in the midwest, and just about everywhere else right now! This year Arbor Day is on April 27! Plant a tree :)
Did you get to bring home an arbor day tree in grade school too? Did you make questionable fashion choices?
Great idea, and thanks for sharing! I am definitely going to take advantage of this. I love me some dogwoods, would getting 10 of only those be bad? LOL
ReplyDeleteIt would be awesome if they let you just pick 10 dogwoods, but they want you to have a mix when I chose mine. But I'm not complaining! A deal is a deal!
DeleteOh snap.. I'm so glad you posted this! The city is wanting to widen a water way that runs through our land and it would mean losing several trees. :( This is so great to know!
ReplyDelete10 trees for you glen coco!!
DeleteWhat a great deal! Trees (especially decorative/flowering) tend to be far more pricey, so I think it's pretty awesome that the association is offering trees for such a discount.
ReplyDeleteWe're planning on planting a few trees this spring as well; 1-2 more apple trees, a few more double flowering plums (to join our solo db plum and make a 'hedge') as well as some globe cedars and dwarf conifers for the back yard to compensate for all the poplar we've culled in the last two years.
p.s.
I think the 90's in and of itself was a ubiquitously bad fashion choice LOL.
I don't what all those trees are but they sound wonderful! You really do know your stuff girl!
Deletethank you SO much for sharing! i made the donation and can't wait to pick places in our yard for the flowering trees!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! It's a great deal!
DeleteHm, I'm off to see if I can do this in Canada!
